How does your garden grow?

Jason decided to start his garden in doors this year. Our bay window was the perfect place for these seedlings to grow as noted by the literal explosion of plant life that has lived there for the past 6 weeks or so. Today, we finally moved it all outdoors. We have tomatoes, cucumbers, corn, zucchini, green peppers, and onions. Bryce helped carry all the plants outside and is right now helping to plant the vegetables. He was so excited to help. Thankfully, Bryce can count to 120--roughly--because he was up to 104 last time I heard for a plant number.

Happy Birthday Bryce

Friday April 18th was not only Bryce's birthday, but the day of the week that he was actually born. Cool coincidence and he also turned 5!!!!
We had his birthday party last night and he had a great time. He was so WELL behaved and he had so much fun. I was soooo proud of him. When I asked him what his favorite part of the day was yesterday he said, "Opening all those presents!"

Posing with one of his favorite gifts--can't you tell by the smile. It is a remote controlled tarantula.

Opening MORE Thomas the train things, and you can see his ball and bat on the floor beside that.

Digging in a big present bag!

Bryce's choice for cake. He always wants an ice cream cake--no complaints here. This year he wanted a Cars cake with Lightning McQueen and Doc racing in the desert. The ice cream store owners literally know us on a first name basis, and we love to visit them often.

Getting ready to blow out the candles!

Bryce's solo gymnastics day

For Bryce's birthday, we paid for him to have a 45 minute personal lesson. It was basically 45 minutes where he could go and play with ANYTHING his little heart desired! He had a blast--as you can see by the pictures. His favorite was the cheese pit. It is a huge rectangle in the floor that is 6 feet deep (3 feet down I am told there is a trampoline to give it bounce)that is filled with foam cubes. Bryce LOVED jumping down into it over and over and over again. Since Bryce is 5 now, he moved up to the older class and is now out in the "big" gym. He has only gone 2 times, so this was also a chance to see what else he will be doing with the older boys.

Climbing up the rock wall with assistance from Ms T.C. He made it to the top and was able to ring the cow bell up there.

Here he is holding himself up on the parallel bars. It looks like he is easily doing it, but he had to hold there for a while since my camera had to reset. He did great waiting and holding!!!

Doing a hand stand, and using the mat for a little assistance.

Finally, an action shot. Here is Bryce mid-air after jumping off of the springboard.

Dirt, Water, Tar, and Heavy Operating Equipment

The title of this blog are the things that make Bryce most happy in this world today. My Mom had taken off and it just happened to be the day that the pavers came to pave their driveway. Bryce was there and was able to see everything from start to finish. He had a blast. I forgot my camera at home, so I couldn't get a picture of him on the mini-steamroller. They took the dirt from part of the driveway and put it in my parents yard. Bryce is in BOY heaven as he gets to dig, bury, and find earthworms in all that dirt.
I am sure that he will sleep well this afternoon!

Bryce's funny comment of the week:
While playing with the hose last night at my Mom's house, he got that LOOK in his eye. The one that says he is definintely up to something. He turned around, looked at my Mom, and said, "You're going down Nana!" He proceeded to spray her with the hose. Well, all 3 of us laughed! Guess Bryce really is picking up on some of that preschool chatter!!!!

Sickness and a hilarious comment

Bryce has been sick this week since Tuesday. He awoke Tuesday with a fever, and just layed around for most of the day. Wednesday, the fever reached the peak of 103 degrees, but he was acting a little more like himself. The fever broke early Thursday, but I was woken up at 0445 to Bryce saying that his belly hurt. At 0515, he began to throw up---what fun. 2 hours later, he seemed back to himself but he slept in until 12:30.
Later, we were downstairs and he asked me for some ginger ale. I said to Bryce, "What do you say?" His response, "I command you!"
After I laughed so hard I cried, I asked him where he heard that. He said, "On TV." I guess that will be enough magic shows for awhile.
Unfortunately, the fever returned this morning and now I do believe that I am seeing spots on his tonsils. We are going to the doctor this afternoon.
